100 Years of Badge Manufacturing
The Story of Smith & Warren
1925
Smith & Warren is founded by Pete Smith and Pete Warren in New York City as a small regional maker of badges. The original location was conveniently located near the New York City Police Department (NYPD) Headquarters.
1990
Julian and Helena Galperin, owners of a successful metal finishing company, acquired Smith & Warren. They saw an opportunity to vertically integrate the business and expand its market beyond the NY metro area. They relocated the business to its current location in White Plains, NY, marking the start of a new era for the company.
1999
Smith & Warren acquired Everson Ross, a nationally recognized leader in badge manufacturing that was established in 1897. This acquisition opened up access to customers throughout the United States and set up the company for growth.
2005
Smith & Warren introduces VisualBadge, transforming how customers design and order badges. By allowing customers to design badges online, VisualBadge sets a new standard for the industry.
2009
In 2009, Lee and Stephanie Galperin became officers at Smith & Warren, marking a significant leadership transition within the family-owned company. Their leadership has driven continued expansion and innovation, strengthening the brand’s reputation for quality and craftsmanship.
2025
As Smith & Warren commemorates its 100th anniversary, we reflect on a legacy of crafting high-quality, American-made badges and insignia. Our mission remains: "To provide a positive buying experience for our customers and to produce the highest quality badges and insignia for departments and agencies worldwide."
