How Badges Are Made at Smith & Warren
Each badge is manufactured in our 27,000-square-foot facility in White Plains, New York. All badges are 100% U.S.A. made and are handcrafted by skilled artisans, carefully inspected, and held to the highest quality standards in the industry.
Production begins within 24 hours after you place your order (or, if ID is required, within 24 hours of your ID being verified).
Tool & Die
All badges get their design, shape, and style from a steel die. Smith & Warren employs the finest badge designers and tool makers in the country. They combine modern technology and traditional craftsmanship to deliver highly detailed dies and tools at an affordable cost.
Metal Stamping
The next crucial phase in badge manufacturing is metal stamping. This is where the badges truly take form. A steel die is pressed into a blank piece of brass by a hydraulic press to form the impression of the badge. All parts used to assemble a Smith & Warren badge are stamped on premises in a safe and efficient environment. All stamping presses are outfitted with the latest safety and quality control technology to ensure your badges are consistently produced to the highest quality standards.
Engraving
Next in the production line, Smith & Warren badges are engraved on state-of-the-art CNC equipment by highly trained personnel. Every badge is triple-checked for accuracy and appearance of engraved lettering.
Assembly
The journey of a badge continues to the assembly phase, which is all done on the premises. The soldering, enameling, and polishing staff includes top professionals from the famed NYC jewelry industry. Every badge is hand-crafted by these skilled artisans, carefully inspected, and held to the highest quality standards in the industry.
Metal Finishing
Approaching the final stages of production, metal finishing is all done on premises in a state-of-the-art electroplating facility. The latest equipment is used to finish badges with a uniformly thick and durable precious metal coating. To learn more about finishes, please click here.
