Community and department growth spurs a desire for a new brand identity with strong Indiana symbolism.

Fishers Police Badge being held

The Fishers Indiana Police Department experienced a period of significant growth, tripling in size. Alongside moving into a larger facility, department members developed new traditions making it the right time for a new badge to celebrate this new brand identity. They wanted their badge symbols and imagery to reflect the growth and development of their department as well as point toward the future of their department.

Local and State Symbols as Prominent Elements

Fishers Police Department was an engaged partner in the BadgeStudio process, eagerly participating as the badge moved from concept sketch to graphic render and finally into samples they could share across the department. Sharing important symbols from their community with our team early in the design process helped shape their badge. The Fishers city flag, department patch, and the state seal of Indiana became important references as design elements on their new badge.

Fishers wanted strong local and state symbolism on their badge, beginning with the 6-pointed star and the piercings around the star, which mirrors the department patch. The highly detailed 3D Indiana state seal sits prominently at the heart of the badge. The City of Fishers’ flag is on the right-hand side of the badge. At the bottom of the badge is the Indiana state flag. The torch represents liberty and enlightenment and the surrounding rays represent Indiana’s far-reaching influence. The thirteen stars in a circle represent the original thirteen states and the five stars in the circle represent the next five states entering the union. The large star is Indiana, the nineteenth state.

Eagle to Represent Federal Government

Adding an eagle to their badge included the heraldic symbol of the Federal Government. Fishers opted for an eagle with a right-facing head, which matches the eagle on the Presidential seal. Fishers also paid tribute to the country placing the US flag on the left-hand side of the badge.

Special Manufacturing Features

The special effects achieved in the manufacturing process add to its uniqueness. The silver six-point star adds a two-tone element and the piercings around the star allow this to be a standout design element. Multiple raised metal features provide dimension and depth to the design. The patriotic pop of red, white, and blue in the center of the badge, along with the blue enamel on the panels and in the state seal add color and artistry to the Fishers badge.

Seeing the 3D graphic render and then production samples of their badge helped the department visualize what their badges would look like on their uniforms or badge holders. Fishers Police Department is proud to wear a badge that represents their community with meaningful symbols of community, protection, and integrity for the police officers.

If you want a custom badge to celebrate your local community and honor local, state, and federal governmental authority, we can help with that symbolism in your design.
